Where Your History Lives
Your chat history is in the left sidebar, organized into time-based sections with a Pinned section at the top:| Section | What’s Included |
|---|---|
| Pinned | Chats you have explicitly pinned — always at the very top |
| Today | Chats with any activity in the last 24 hours |
| Yesterday | Chats last active the previous calendar day |
| This Week | Chats from the current week, not covered by Today or Yesterday |
| Older | All conversations before the current week, newest first |
Chat history is private by default. Only you can see your conversations. On Business plans, org admins may have visibility into member activity per the organization’s policy.
Finding Old Chats
The fastest way to find a specific past conversation is the search bar at the top of the left sidebar.Click the search bar at the top of the sidebar
The search input is above the Pinned section. Click it to activate.
Type your query
Type a keyword, phrase, topic, or model name. ZeroTwo searches both chat titles and conversation content in real time as you type.
Review the results
Matching chats appear in the search results. Each result shows the chat title and, where relevant, a content snippet indicating where the match occurred.
Chat Titles
Chat titles are auto-generated from the content of your first message — ZeroTwo creates a short, descriptive 5–7 word summary automatically. For example: “Refactor auth middleware Node.js” or “Q3 marketing campaign strategy.” To rename a chat: Right-click the chat in the sidebar → Rename → type the new name → press Enter. Having meaningful titles makes search much more effective. If you frequently start chats with short or generic opening messages, renaming them immediately after creation keeps your history navigable.Pinned Chats
Pinned chats stay at the top of the sidebar indefinitely, regardless of when they were last active. Useful for:- Ongoing reference conversations you return to frequently
- Active projects or threads you need quick access to
- Chats with important context or decisions you want one click away
Project Chats
Chats created inside a project appear under that project’s section in the sidebar. They are:- Associated with the project’s instruction set (system prompt)
- Included in the project’s file library context
- Accessible via the sidebar project section or by navigating to
/projects/:id - Separate from standalone chat history
Persistence and Retention
ZeroTwo retains your full conversation history as long as your account is active. There is no automatic expiration, time-based pruning, or storage cap on history. History persists across:- Device and browser changes — history is server-side, not stored locally
- Session resets and logouts
- Plan changes — upgrading or downgrading does not affect your history
- You manually delete individual conversations
- You use bulk delete via Settings → Data Controls → Clear Conversations
- You delete your account
Exporting Chat History
To keep a backup of your conversations or move your data:Click Export Data
Click the Export Data button. ZeroTwo prepares a structured download of your full conversation history.
Finding an Old Chat: Strategies
If you cannot find a conversation through the search bar alone, try these strategies in order:- Search by keyword — use the sidebar search for words you remember from the conversation
- Search by topic — try broader terms related to the subject or task
- Search by model name — if you remember which model you used, search that
- Browse by time period — scroll to the Older section and look in the approximate date range
- Filter by project — if the chat was part of a project, look under that project’s section
- Export and search — export your full history and search the exported file for content that is hard to find in the UI
