If you see an error when trying to create a new project, or the ”+ New Project” button is disabled:
  • Free plan limit — Free plan users can create only 1 project. You’ve reached that limit.
Options:
  1. Upgrade to Pro — Pro and above include unlimited projects. Go to Settings → Account → Subscription.
  2. Delete an existing project — if you no longer need an existing project, delete it to free up your slot. Open the project → Settings → Delete Project → confirm.
Project deletion is permanent. All chats, files, and settings within the project are removed and cannot be recovered. Export or save any important content before deleting.
If chats in your project don’t seem to have the project’s instructions active:
  1. Check that instructions are saved — open the project → click the Settings/gear icon → find the Instructions section. Confirm there is content there and that you clicked Save after writing it.
  2. Start a new chat — instructions apply to new chats started after saving. Existing chats that were already open before you saved the instructions won’t be affected. Open a new chat in the project and test.
  3. Check for conflicts with global instructions — your global custom instructions (Settings → Personalization) are also active in all chats. If the project instructions seem to be ignored, check whether your global instructions are overriding them on a specific topic.
  4. Verify you’re in a project chat — ensure the chat you’re testing in is actually under the project (it appears nested under the project name in the sidebar), not a regular chat that happens to be nearby in the list.
If ZeroTwo doesn’t seem to know about files you’ve uploaded to the project:
  • Mention the file explicitly — ZeroTwo doesn’t automatically read every project file for every message. Reference the file in your prompt: “Using the product spec I uploaded to this project…” or “Based on the API documentation file here…”
  • Verify the file uploaded successfully — open the project → Files tab. Confirm the file appears in the list without any error indicators.
  • Try re-uploading — if the file shows an error or seems corrupted, delete it and re-upload.
  • Check file type support — not all file types are supported for content extraction. PDFs, DOCX, TXT, CSV, and common code files work well. Some proprietary formats may not be readable.
If you can’t locate a chat you created inside a project:
  1. Expand the project in the sidebar — click the project name to expand it. Project chats are listed beneath the project, not in the main chat history.
  2. Use sidebar search — click the search icon in the sidebar and type keywords from the chat. Project chats are searchable by content.
  3. Check the main chat history — the chat may have been created outside the project accidentally. Check /c and look for it in your general chat history.
  4. Scroll the project’s chat list — if you have many chats in a project, scroll down in the project view to see older ones.
If you deleted a project and need to recover its content:
  • Deletion is permanent. Projects cannot be recovered once deleted. ZeroTwo does not maintain deleted project snapshots.
  • If you exported data beforehand — go to Settings → Data Controls (or your account’s data export section). If you ran a data export before deletion, your chat history and files may be included in that export.
  • If chats were shared — any chats that were shared externally (via share link) may still be accessible via the original link, depending on the sharing settings at the time.
If you need to start fresh on the same project, recreate it and restore content manually from any exports or saved materials you have.
